FAQs
ARE YOU THE RIGHT TRAINER FOR ME?
I am looking to work with people who understand that they are the fundamentals of their dog’s failure or success. “Environment affects behavior” is one of the truest statements ever made. You are part of your dog’s environment. Therefore, you are very much affecting your dog’s behavior at any given moment. What’s great is that you are the most powerful entity to help your dog! However, you must be fully aware and committed to changing some things that need changing in order to help your dog succeed. Perhaps your dog may need to not sleep on your bed anymore or even on the couch. You may have to withhold physical affection or praise from your dog at certain times. What is equally important is that you are on board with the tools I use and how I train. I will not appease a client by using a tool or technique that I do not feel is ideal to facilitate a dog’s success. The reason is because I know that it will not produce the proper result. I use the tools that I do because they are simple, humane, and effective. I am looking to work with people who understand working with their dog is a lifelong commitment, and not something we do for just a few weeks.
CAN I COME TOUR THE FACILITY?
While we do allow owners to come and meet with us and view common spaces of the facility, we cannot allow owners into the boarding rooms. I will have dogs in training with various issues who may not be ready yet for strangers walking past them and it would be unfair to subject them to this distraction without proper preparation. I can assure you these dogs are well cared for as if they were my own! Please watch this video tour highlighting where the dogs sleep and train:
WHAT IS YOUR METHOD OF DOG TRAINING?
My dog training programs are all based on creating a sound relationship with our dogs through clear communication and relationship building. We help dogs become the best versions of themselves while educating and coaching owners on how to build the greatest relationship possible with their dogs. We do that by teaching clear communication, managing boundaries and movement, relationship building and altering a dog’s state of mind. Whether your dog is biting, fearful, nervous, pulling on the leash, reactive, anxious, or a puppy looking to learn the fundamentals, our training is universal for all dogs and breeds.
We use pressure (ecollar stim) to communicate “no” and rewards (food or praise) to communicate “yes” keeping things nice and simple for both dogs and owners.
IS MY DOG TOO OLD TO LEARN THIS STUFF?
No. Old dogs CAN learn new tricks!
While any dog can learn new structure, boundaries, and rules, our expectations may need to shift based on the dogs age and history. If we have a 10 year old dog who has been practicing these innapropriate behaviors for its entire life, we may realistically not be able to irradicate them, but we certainly can make it better.
DO YOU OFFER A GUARANTEE?
My guarantee for your dog’s training lies in your hands more so than in mine. I can guarantee I will train your dog to reach your goals. I cannot guarantee you will follow through with the training to maintain it. If you do the reinforcement training at home as recommended and use training tools consistently in they way I’ve shown you, you will get exactly the results you are looking for. Staying in touch and communicating is also a great way to ensure results. I am here to support you after the training program for the life of your dog through phone and email.
