ABOUT ME: I’m Kenzie Moehlmann, owner and trainer at Brilliant Behavior K-9 Academy. While I’m originally from up north in Chicago, I now live in the Round Top area with my husband and our three dogs Zazu, Meeko, and Rogue. Here at Brilliant Behavior K-9 Academy, we use a permission-based and relationship focused training style designed to help strengthen the dog-human communication system. We create great structure and open lines of communication with dogs through using tools like slip leashes, prong collars, e-collars, spatial pressure, treats, petting and praise. All of these are used to create a healthy and mutually beneficial relationship with your dog. We keep things simple and clear for dogs, “no” means no and “yes” means yes, creating no gray areas. With over 7 years of hands-on experience working with dogs, we are confident we can help address the challenges you’d like to overcome.
WHY DOG TRAINING: Ever since I was a child I’ve always been drawn to animals, especially to dogs. It wasn’t until one summer looking for a part time job that I really thought about working with dogs. I have worked in multiple areas of the dog world ranging from a grooming salon, a dog daycare, boarding facilities, as a dog sitter/walker, and even shadowed at a vet clinic in college. Watching the dogs unique behaviors and mannerisms in the daycare and grooming setting is what really piqued my interest in dog training.
QUALIFICATIONS: While I started my journey with a formal education in dog training, the learning hasn’t stopped there. Here are a few examples of how I’ve grown my professional qualifications over the years.
